Estepona is a geographically extensive municipality between Marbella and Manilva with 23 kilometers of coastline and stunning and beautifully maintained beaches. North of the coastal road N-340 is a fertile valley with a total of six golf courses and several horse farms.

Among other things is Spain's first 6-star hotel resort placed here, the Villa Padierna.Estepona town has a nice beach walk, cozy marina with several bars and restaurants and market every Sunday. Here you are met by a relaxed feel of an old fishing village that despite the building boom has managed to preserve its Andalusian village character. The old part of town dating back to the 1500s, has been renovated with freshly painted facades, flowers and pedestrian zones, and even has received accolades for the results. In Estepona you find the adventure park Parque Selwo Aventura, and in the middle of the town 13,000 square meters of old farmland recently transformed into a green lung with a botanical garden and an orchids museum.
Estepona is one of the most cosmopolitan municipalities along the coast and the nearly 70,000 residents live either in the city or in one of the many fine urbanizations, many of them right on the border of Marbella municipality. One of them is Atalaya, where you have a golf course and residential surroundings which is a very popular among Scandinavians. You also find Diana center with schools, supermarkets, Saturday market etc. - a genuine area that lives year-round.
El Paraiso and Bel Air are also popular residential areas among Scandinavians, with mixed sized houses and nice townhouses, local services and activities throughout the year. The golf course El Paraíso was built in 1973 and reputed to be the cosiest one on the coast. Bel Air also has a fine tennis club.
Cancelada is another charming small town between San Pedro and Estepona. Here is Villa Padierna where Michelle Obama chose to stay when she visited Spain in 2010. In Cancelada you have restaurants, butcher, school and kindergarden, stationery, newsagent, church, etc. It is a living village year round, with an authentic Spanish atmosphere.
